Bintaro, South Tangerang, 12/08/2024 – Keisya Putri Aiko, a Product Design Department student at Universitas Pembangunan Jaya (UPJ), has brought honor to Universitas Pembangunan Jaya by winning 2nd Place in the 2024 Tangsel Batik Design Competition. This prestigious event, organized by the Regional National Craft Council (Dekranasda) of South Tangerang City, was participated in by contestants from various backgrounds.

This year's batik design competition saw 86 participants, which was then narrowed down to 44 after a rigorous curation process. In the next stage, the jury selected the top 10 designs.

Keisya also impressed the judges with her unique batik design themed "Elok Wijaya," derived from Indonesian meaning "Beautiful" (Elok) and "Excellent" (Wijaya). The Elok Wijaya batik motif incorporates various elements of nature and culture from South Tangerang City. The name Elok Wijaya embodies the hope for South Tangerang to become a beautiful and excellent city with its nature and culture. Her design was highly praised for its representation of the beauty and cultural richness of South Tangerang City.

“I am very happy and grateful for this achievement. I did not expect my design to be selected as the second-place winner. Thank you to UPJ for their full support all this time,” said Keisya.

"We are very proud of Keisya's achievement," said UPJ Rector, Ir. Yudi Samyudia, Ph.D. "This achievement proves that UPJ students excel not only in academics but also possess high creativity and innovation. Keisya's batik design embodies the spirit of mutual cooperation and local wisdom that are the core values we instill at UPJ." He concluded.

With this second-place win, it is hoped that it will motivate other UPJ students to continue creating and achieving in the field of design. Moreover, Keisya's batik design is also expected to become a new icon for South Tangerang City.
