The Spirit of Independence at UPJ: Reflection and Implementation of Independence Values
Bintaro, South Tangerang , 17/08/2024 – In commemoration of the 79th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, Universitas Pembangunan Jaya (UPJ) held a series of solemn ceremonies on Saturday, August 17, 2024. The event began at 07:00 WIB on the main field of UPJ and was attended by over 200 participants, including new students, student organizations (Ormawa), department student associations (HMJ), lecturers, and UPJ educational staff (tendik).
The ceremony commenced with an opening followed by the respectful raising of the red and white flag. Participants solemnly observed the key moments of the ceremony, including the playing of national songs such as "Kicir-Kicir" and "Hari Merdeka," which added to the patriotic atmosphere among the attendees.
One of the most anticipated moments was the screening of the Indonesian Independence Proclamation video, attentively watched by all participants. This moment served as a reminder of the heroes' struggles in securing independence and the importance of continuing that fighting spirit in everyday life.
In his speech, UPJ Rector, Ir. Yudi Samyudia, Ph.D., expressed his hopes for all students. He emphasized the importance of implementing the values of independence in every aspect of academic and social life on campus.
"Independence must be filled with responsibilities that benefit the nation and the country, with integrity, ethics, and moral conduct. Therefore, I call upon the students of Universitas Pembangunan Jaya to continue to uphold the spirit of the struggle for the development of Indonesia," he said.
With the conclusion of this ceremony, the spirit of independence is expected to grow stronger among UPJ students, making them a young generation ready to face future challenges with enthusiasm and integrity.
