MoU between Universitas Pembangunan Jaya and Tangsel SME Cooperative Office: Synergy to Improve the Quality of MSMEs
Bintaro, South Tangerang, 06/11/2024 - The Faculty of Technology and Design, Department of Visual Communication Design (DKV) of Universitas Pembangunan Jaya (UPJ) officially collaborated with the South Tangerang Small and Medium Enterprises (UKM) Cooperative Office through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This partnership marks the commitment of both parties in supporting the development of the quality of MSMEs in the South Tangerang area, especially through optimizing branding, visual communication design, and improving HR skills.
The MoU signing event that took place at UPJ was attended by representatives from both parties, including the Head of the South Tangerang SME Cooperative Office, Bachtiar Priyambodo, S.STP., M.Si, who emphasized the importance of this collaboration as a concrete step in developing local human resources. “Collaboration with UPJ is one of the important efforts in improving South Tangerang's human resources, especially in the MSME sector. We hope that this constructive collaboration can have a direct impact on MSME players and the creative industry in our region,” said Bachtiar.
Head of UPJ's DKV Study Program, Retno Purwanti, M.S.Sn., M.Ds., revealed that this MoU will open many opportunities to implement programs that support the development of MSMEs in Tangsel. “We will facilitate training in building brands and product visual identities for MSMEs, hold collaborative exhibitions of works, and hold Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) involving students and MSME players. We hope that this collaboration will not only enrich students' insights but also have a real impact on MSMEs in South Tangerang,” Retno Purwanti explained.
The contents of this MoU include several main programs that will be carried out soon, including special training in building brands and visual identities, collaboration in exhibitions of student works that focus on MSMEs, and direct discussions with MSME owners to understand market needs more deeply.
In closing, the event was marked by a friendly session and a group photo, reflecting the optimism of both institutions in developing the potential of MSMEs through innovation and visual communication design approaches. This collaboration is expected to be a solid foundation for the development of MSMEs in South Tangerang, while strengthening the relationship between the world of education and the creative industry sector.
