Diversity of World Cultures Present at KAB 2024 Exhibition of UPJ Communication Science Students
Bintaro, South Tangerang 31/12/2024 - The 2024 Intercultural Communication Exhibition (KAB) invigorated the atmosphere at Universitas Pembangunan Jaya (UPJ) on December 18, 2024. Held in the Hall of Building B on the 3rd floor, this eagerly awaited annual event was organized by the Communication Studies Program class of 2023, showcasing 32 culturally diverse booths featuring the theme of diversity from various countries, including Thailand and Greece, as well as local cultures like Bali and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
This annual exhibition is designed to introduce cultural diversity to visitors while fostering cross-cultural understanding. Through in-depth research, students delve into the cultures of different countries and regions, which are then brought to life through creative presentations at each booth.
“This event has become a cherished tradition that we continue from previous years. However, the most important aspect is providing opportunities for students to learn and communicate culture. They begin with research and reading, and then convey information through various media,” stated Naurissa Biasini, S.Si., M.I.Kom., Head of the Department of Communication.
Naurissa also highlighted the significance of this learning in building insight and intercultural tolerance. “We hope that students will gain new perspectives from this learning process and develop an appreciation for the differences in culture, language, and traditions from various regions. In this way, the value of tolerance can be cultivated,” she added.
Student Collaboration for the Success of the Exhibition Anindyta Nasywa Kurniawan, Head of Class and representative of the Bali booth, explained that the preparation of the exhibition involved the collaboration of all Communication Science students of the class of 2023. Each class sent two representatives to work alongside the class leader in selecting vendors, preparing decorations, and ensuring that each booth looked its best.
“All processes, from theme selection to decoration execution, went smoothly thanks to the solid coordination and cooperation of all students. We hope this activity strengthens the relationships between students and provides a different learning experience from the classroom,” she concluded.
The KAB 2024 Exhibition is not only a place to learn but also a celebration of the diversity of world cultures. With high enthusiasm and strong collaboration, this event created memorable moments for both students and visitors alike.
