UKM Karate Universitas Pembangunan Jaya Makes Achievements at National Events, Picking up 4 Medals!
Bintaro, South Tangerang, 02/01/2025 - Universitas Pembangunan Jaya (UPJ) Karate Student Activity Unit (UKM) once again achieved a proud milestone at the National Open Karate Bharaduta Championship V, Kemenpora RI Cup, held at GOR Ciracas, Jakarta, on December 21-22, 2024.
UPJ Karate UKM successfully sent five delegates, four of whom returned with medals: one gold, one silver, and two bronze. This remarkable achievement stands as a testament to UPJ's dedication in nurturing student talents and potentials.
List of UPJ Karate UKM Medalists:
Gold Medal
- M. Fariz Febrianda (KOM, 2024): Men's Senior Kumite -67 kg category.
Silver Medal
- Icha Aditama (PSI, 2022): Senior Kumite -61 kg Female category.
Bronze Medal
- Naurah Zain Athilah (PSI, 2024): Women's Senior Kumite -50 kg category.
- Dwenvi Rizqal (DKV, 2022): Senior Kumite +84 kg Male category.
UPJ Karate UKM coach, Tasrikin Agustianto, expressed his immense pride in this achievement. “UPJ Karate UKM has only been established for two years, yet it has shown extraordinary potential. Initially underestimated, this UKM has now become one of the campus's prides,” stated Tasrikin, affectionately known as Senpai Ikin.
Gold medalist M. Fariz Febrianda shared his joy: “I am deeply grateful for the support from the campus, coaches, and colleagues. This success motivates me to achieve even greater heights,” he said.
UPJ Vice Rector II for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. Ir. Agustinus Agus Setiawan, S.T., M.T., IPM, also expressed his appreciation. “This achievement reflects UPJ's commitment to supporting students not only academically but also in non-academic self-development. We are immensely proud of the accomplishments of UPJ Karate UKM, which continues to bring honor to the university,” he stated.
Looking ahead, UPJ Karate UKM is gearing up to compete in the international karate championship at the Southeast Asian (ASEAN) level, to be held at Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta, in April 2025. “We hope these five athletes can maintain their achievements and that new students will join us,” added Senpai Ikin.
This achievement further solidifies Pembangunan Jaya University as an educational institution that actively supports outstanding students across various fields, continuously enhancing the campus's reputation both nationally and internationally.
