TEDxUPJ 2025: Sustainable Urban Living for a Better Future for Indonesia

Bintaro, June 5, 2025 – Following the success of TEDxUPJ 2024, Universitas Pembangunan Jaya (UPJ) is once again hosting TEDxUPJ 2025 with the theme “Sustainable Urban Living,” an inspiring forum that highlights ideas and innovations to achieve a more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient urban living.

As an institution focused on urban studies, UPJ is hosting TEDxUPJ 2025 to highlight the challenges and opportunities faced by modern cities amid the rapid pace of urbanization. The event invites participants to reflect on and propose choices today that will shape the cities of tomorrow, in line with the event's tagline: “Embracing Tomorrow’s Cities, Today’s Choices.”

Urbanization brings complex social, economic, and environmental dynamics. From the need for adequate housing, efficient mobility, to the importance of inclusive public spaces. TEDxUPJ 2025 emphasizes that sustainable urban living is not just about energy efficiency or carbon emissions reduction, but also encompasses responsible consumption lifestyles, environmentally friendly transportation systems, inclusive city design, and strengthening local communities.

“Through TEDxUPJ 2025, we aim to build an ecosystem of ideas that drives real transformation in urban development through innovation and collaboration,” said Ir. Yudi Samyudia, Ph.D, Rector of Universitas Pembangunan Jaya

This year, TEDxUPJ presents a number of inspiring speakers from various sectors, including academia, practitioners, the business world, and policymakers, who will share their experiences and real solutions for creating more livable and resilient cities, including:

· Dino Augustino, Fashion Design Lecturer, Lasalle College & Sustainability Consultant

· Emma Aliudin, Media Practitioner & Environmental Communication Lecturer

· Dennis, Head of Community, Blockdev

· Ranitya Nurlita, Environmental Sustainability Consultant

· Alvin Tjitrowirjo, Design Strategist & Product Designer

“We invite participants to explore cross-sector approaches, ranging from renewable energy, circular economy, to urban community empowerment through public spaces and participatory planning,” added Donna Angelina Sugianto, S.Sn., M.A., Chair of the TEDxUPJ 2025 Organizing Committee.

More than just a forum for sharing ideas, TEDxUPJ 2025 is designed as a collaborative space to bring together various stakeholders—academics, professionals, industry players, and communities—in formulating solutions for the future of cities. The hope is that this event will serve as a catalyst for cross-disciplinary collaboration to create more humane and sustainable cities.
