#RememberEmergencyNumbers Campaign: UPJ Students and Tangsel Fire Department Educate Residents About Emergency Numbers
Bintaro, South Tangerang, June 26, 2025 — In an effort to raise public awareness and knowledge about the importance of storing and using emergency numbers wisely, students from Department of Communication at Universitas Pembangunan Jaya (UPJ) collaborated with the South Tangerang City Fire and Rescue Department (Damkar) to launch a campaign titled #RememberEmergencyNumbers.
The campaign was held at the South Tangerang Fire Department Headquarters and targeted two main segments: children and the general public. The primary focus was to educate the public on how to recognize, save, and use the fire department’s emergency numbers—112 or 0811-9000-74—properly during emergency situations.
The campaign began on May 15, 2025, with the “Anak Hebat Tanggap Bencana” program, specifically designed for preschool-aged children. Through rescue simulations, fire department equipment familiarization, and emergency number memorization, children were introduced to basic fire safety concepts in a fun and interactive environment.
Next, the Community Readiness Mission activity was held on May 24 and 27, 2025. In this activity, students distributed stickers containing emergency numbers door-to-door to residents' homes in various areas of South Tangerang. This effort was made to ensure that important information about emergency numbers was directly communicated to the community.
In addition to on-site activities, the #IngatNomorDarurat campaign was reinforced with digital education through the official social media accounts of the South Tangerang Fire Department. Educational content such as emergency number infographics, fire safety tips, and emergency evacuation procedures were regularly published to reach a wider and more sustainable audience.
“I am very happy that there are student colleagues willing to promote the fire department’s emergency numbers. I hope these emergency numbers can reach the public. I hope that all segments of society at least save the fire department’s emergency numbers,” said Darussalam, Commander of the Rescue Team at the Tangerang Selatan Fire Department.
The Tangerang Selatan City Fire Department and Rescue Agency is an institution with a crucial mandate in firefighting, rescuing victims, evacuating dangerous animals, and disaster education. As the frontline in emergency response, the Tangerang Selatan Fire Department continues to encourage active community participation in creating a safe, responsive, and vigilant environment against potential hazards.
The #RememberEmergencyNumber campaign serves as a positive example of collaboration between the academic world and public service institutions in strengthening community preparedness for emergency situations.
