This year’s Jakarta Taekwondo League marked the inaugural tournament under the leadership of Major General (Ret.) Oni Junianto, serving as Chairman of the Jakarta Taekwondo Association. The championship welcomed approximately 1,600 athletes from five provinces, competing in two primary disciplines: Poomsae and Kyorugi, each segmented by age group (Pre-Cadet, Cadet, Junior, and Senior) and skill level (Beginner and Advanced).

During the opening ceremony, Major General (Ret.) Junianto emphasized the strategic synergy within the competition’s infrastructure: “We have a highly coordinated dojang system. Strong communication between dojangs, and between municipal and provincial authorities, ensures the event runs smoothly and efficiently.”

UPJ continues to champion student success in both academic and extracurricular spheres.”

Gold medalist Shiela Ratrianna Rusli attributed the team’s success to rigorous training and campus support: “We train regularly and motivate one another. The encouragement from our coaches and the university has played a key role in fostering our confidence in competition.”

The outstanding accomplishments of the UPJ Taekwondo Team underscore the university’s commitment to holistic student development—where character building and athletic excellence are harmoniously integrated with academic achievement.
