UPJ Strengthens Disability Services through ULD Grant from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology 2025
Bintaro, South Tangerang, July 11, 2025 —
Universitas Pembangunan Jaya (UPJ), through its Student Affairs and Alumni Office (BKAL), has once again been awarded the Disability Services Unit (ULD) Strengthening Grant by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) of Indonesia. This marks the institution’s second consecutive year of receiving the grant, signifying UPJ’s sustained commitment to advancing an inclusive higher education environment.
The ULD Grant is designed to empower universities in establishing structured support systems for students with disabilities. These systems encompass policy formulation, capacity building, assistive technology integration, and infrastructure enhancements—each component contributing to equitable access to quality education.
Dr. Ir. Agustinus Agus Setiawan, S.T., M.T., IPM, Vice Rector I for Academic and Student Affairs, emphasized that the continuation of this program underscores UPJ’s institutional dedication to delivering adaptive and responsive educational services that accommodate diverse student needs.
“In its second year, the strengthening of ULD transcends administrative obligation; it represents a pivotal step in the transformation toward an inclusive and equitable learning system,” he remarked.
Since 2024, UPJ has undertaken various initiatives to promote inclusivity, including the development of an early detection mechanism for accessibility requirements, the implementation of training programs for student service personnel, and the formulation of academic guidelines attuned to the needs of students with disabilities. Building upon these foundational efforts, the 2025 grant will support the expansion of services, particularly in incorporating assistive technologies into pedagogical practices.
Beyond its institutional scope, UPJ’s engagement with the ULD grant aligns with the broader national agenda led by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, aimed at democratizing access to higher education across all societal sectors. In response to this policy framework, UPJ is committed to constructing a disability support system that is seamlessly embedded within its academic culture and regulatory structures.
By securing the ULD grant for a second consecutive year, UPJ affirms its position as a leading institution in Indonesia in the development of disability-inclusive campuses.
