UPJ Students Win Third Place in the 2025 LLDIKTI Region IV Pilmapres Competition
Bintaro, South Tangerang, July 21, 2025 — Irvan Nurfauzan Saputra, an undergraduate student at Universitas Pembangunan Jaya (UPJ), achieved a commendable distinction by securing third place in the 2025 Regional Outstanding Student Selection (Pilmapres) organized by the Regional Directorate of Higher Education (LLDIKTI) Region IV. His exceptional performance earned him the honor of representing LLDIKTI Region IV at the national-level Pilmapres competition, marking him as the sole undergraduate finalist from Banten Province to qualify for this esteemed event.
The 2025 Pilmapres competition adopted the theme “Campus Impact: Creating Innovative Solutions for a Sustainable Indonesia”, underscoring the imperative for ideas that transcend theoretical brilliance and manifest tangible, contextual relevance with societal impact.
In response, Irvan introduced the “Nusantara Riset” platform—an innovative digital initiative that synthesizes gamification and personalized artificial intelligence to enhance user engagement. Designed to adapt content delivery based on individual capabilities, the platform aims to cultivate early interest in research, broaden access to educational resources and professional mentorship, and foster collaborative networks across Indonesia. Rooted in the Asta Cita principles that champion creativity and innovation, the project embodies a transformative approach to educational advancement.
“Pilmapres, to me, is more than an academic contest; it is a platform to demonstrate that students can be agents of change. I strive to show that the younger generation is capable of contributing directly to Indonesia’s research ecosystem, and of dispelling the notion that research is inaccessible or uninspiring,” stated Irvan Nurfauzan Saputra, recipient of the 3rd Hope Award.
Irvan’s accomplishment was formally acknowledged by UPJ's Rector, Ir. Yudi Samyudia, Ph.D., who noted that the recognition reaffirms UPJ’s commitment to cultivating graduates who combine academic excellence with social awareness.
“Irvan’s success reflects UPJ’s holistic educational model—one grounded in values, relevance, and societal impact. Our pedagogical approach equips students to think critically and strategically in addressing real-world challenges,” he affirmed.
The regional Pilmapres competition was convened at Telkom University and featured 30 finalists from undergraduate and diploma programs vying for the top 12 positions. The evaluation process engaged 11 judges representing diverse professional fields, and was centered on three key criteria: academic and non-academic achievements, originality and impact of ideas, and English language proficiency.
Lukman, Head of LLDIKTI Region IV, also emphasized the significance of practical contributions in all proposed initiatives:
“Impactful innovation need not be complex. Begin with small-scale ideas that address genuine community needs. That is the essence of a campus with societal relevance,” he conveyed to participants.
Irvan’s accomplishment reinforces the strategic ethos of Universitas Pembangunan Jaya as an institution where academic rigor converges with social responsibility. As UPJ continues its trajectory, it remains dedicated to fostering inclusive spaces for participation and innovation—embodying its mission to produce graduates who are not only intellectually proficient but also adaptable and socially impactful.
