Universitas Pembangunan Jaya and Monash University, Indonesia Sign MoU for Educational and Research Collaboration

Bintaro, South Tangerang 24/09/2024 – Universitas Pembangunan Jaya (UPJ) officially established a partnership with Monash University, Indonesia through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at UPJ Campus, Bintaro, South Tangerang, on Friday, September 13, 2024. This signing marks a significant step for both institutions in strengthening collaboration in education, research, and community service.
The event was attended by key figures from both universities, including Ir. Frans Satyaki Sunito, President of UPJ; Ir. Yudi Samyudia, Ph.D., Rector of UPJ; Elisabeth Rukmini, Ph.D., Vice Rector for Cooperation and Operations at UPJ; Tantia Dian Permata Indah, COO and Vice President (Operations and Enterprise) of Monash University, Indonesia; Professor Matthew Nicholson, Pro Vice-Chancellor and President of Monash University. Indonesia; and urban design academic Stephen Cairns. Additionally, UPJ bureau heads, lecturers, and students were present to witness this historic moment.
In his speech, Ir. Yudi Samyudia, Ph.D. expressed his hopes for this collaboration. "We hope this MoU will be a gateway for various strategic collaborations in the future, especially in the fields of applied research and cross-university education. UPJ and Monash University, Indonesia share a vision to create positive impacts for urban communities," he stated.
This partnership will cover various areas, including education and training, university pathways, applied research, and community service. "This collaboration is an opportunity for both institutions to share expertise and resources," said Tantia Dian Permata Indah, COO and Vice President (Operations and Enterprise) of Monash University, Indonesia. UPJ students will also have the opportunity to pursue further studies at Monash University, Indonesia with Master's Degree programs and a 20% scholarship on tuition fees. In addition, Monash University, Indonesia also opens opportunities for UPJ lecturers to continue their education to PhD or doctoral level with a full or 100% scholarship.
Following the signing, the event continued with presentations from Monash University, Indonesia and UPJ's Center of Urban Studies, discussing potential joint research in urban studies. With this MoU, UPJ and Monash University, Indonesia are optimistic about creating sustainable collaborations that will significantly impact the world of education and society
